Dual-Core Performance for Motor Control, Digital Power, Functional Safety and High-Performance Embedded Applications


If you are designing high-end embedded control applications with multiple software teams, our dsPIC33CH family features two dsPIC® Digital Signal Controller (DSC) cores in a single chip, enabling easier software integration. The dsPIC33CH has one master core and one slave core. The slave core is for executing dedicated, time-critical control code while the master core is busy running the user interface, system monitoring and communications functions that are customized for the end application.

The dsPIC33CH is designed to facilitate independent code development for each core by separate design teams and then enable seamless integration when the separate codes are later brought together in one chip. The dsPIC33CH family is optimized for safety-critical applications requiring functional safety compliance, high-performance control applications, digital power, motor control and other time-critical applications requiring sophisticated algorithms, including applications such as wireless power, server power supplies, drones, and automotive sensors. Robust Designs and Functional Safety

Robust dsPIC33CH dual-core DSCs include dedicated peripherals and diagnostic features to help increase reliability in safety-critical applications. They support operation in temperatures up to 150°C and are AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualified. Key features include:

  • Flash with Error Code Correction (ECC) and fault injection and RAM Memory Built-in Self-Test (MBIST) for memory integrity verification
  • Dual Windowed Watchdog Timer (WWDT), Deadman Timer (DMT), Power-on Reset (POR), Brown-out Reset (BOR) and Fail-Safe Clock Monitor (FSCM) with backup oscillator for system monitoring
  • Functional Safety collateral, including Safety Manual, Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) report, diagnostic libraries and TÜV SÜD-certified MPLAB® XC16 compiler
