Developed by Microchip in collaboration with leading industry partners, the Mi-V RISC-V® ecosystem is a comprehensive and expanding platform. It supports the development of designs based on PolarFire® FPGAs and SoCs, PIC64 microprocessors (MPUs) and the space-grade PIC64-HPSC MPU. These platforms provide you with a unified path to build RISC-V-based applications across a wide range of markets including industrial, aerospace, automotive and edge computing.
What makes these MI-V RISC-V platforms exceptional is the support for both symmetrical and asymmetrical multiprocessing, enabling the execution of Linux®, real-time operating systems and bare-metal applications within a single system. This flexibility is especially important for mission-critical designs that require deterministic behavior alongside rich operating environments.
These FPGAs offer a flexible combination of up to 461K of programmable logic elements with an embedded 64-bit RISC-V quad-core MPU to offer asymmetric multiprocessing and deterministic latencies. They are pin compatible with PIC64GX MPUs.
This family of 64-bit RISC-V quad-core MPUs offers asymmetric multiprocessing and deterministic latencies. It features a configurable processor and memory subsystem to support secure boot and key management for military-grade security.
A new class of high-performance and high-reliability 64-bit RISC-V MPUs, these devices target mission-critical intelligent edge applications for the aerospace and defense, industrial, automotive and communications markets.
These radiation-hardened and radiation-tolerant multi-core processors use the same hardware and software to support different mission profiles that range from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to deep space.
Mi-V RV32 RISC-V soft CPUs are supported on PolarFire, RTG4™, SmartFusion® 2, and IGLOO® 2 FPGAs. Full design support is available via Libero® SoC Design Suite and firmware development is supported by the Eclipse-based SoftConsole IDE with Renode emulation, GCC and debugging tools.
We joined the RISC-V Foundation as a founding member in 2015, and we are now a Strategic Member of RISC-V International. This long-standing commitment underscores our leadership in advancing open, royalty-free architectures which is reflected in our growing portfolio of RISC-V-based solutions—including PolarFire® SoC FPGAs and PIC64 MPUs—that serve markets ranging from industrial automation to aerospace and defense.
The Mi-V ecosystem is powered by a network of industry-leading partners who deliver tools, IP, operating systems, middleware and development platforms tailored for RISC-V. These partners—such as Ashling, Green Hills®, Linux, Antmicro, Enclustra and CAST—enable streamlined development, robust security and faster time to market for many applications.
