dsPIC33E Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs)

High-Performance, System-in-Package, 70 MHz dsPIC® Digital Signal Controllers

Our dsPIC33E family of Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) offers performance of up to 70 MHz, flexible peripherals and a complete ecosystem of software and hardware tools to speed your development. They feature a true Digital Signal Processor (DSP) engine for very high-speed control loop execution in demanding high-performance embedded, motor control and digital power conversion applications.

With over 130 product variants, dsPIC33E DSCs are available in an extremely broad range of memory options and pinout and package sizes to meet your design’s specific requirements.

Why Choose dsPIC33E DSCs for Your Design?

Solutions for Creating Robust Designs

The dsPIC33E DSC family resolves a wide variety of pressure points in embedded applications. They are well suited for designs operating in extreme environmental conditions, such as DC/DC converters, HVAC systems, automotive sensors, and fans and pumps, all of which need to withstand noise and vibration and operate at temperatures up to 150°C.

These DSCs are AEC Q100 Grade 0 qualified, making them excellent solutions for automotive applications. Available in both 3V and 5V options, dsPIC33E DSCs meet a wide range of requirements to create a robust design.

ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and IEC 60730 Functional Safety Support

Dedicated peripherals and hardware features have been integrated into dsPIC33E DSCs to increase reliability and monitoring for safety-critical applications such as appliances, automobiles and industrial equipment. Select dsPIC33 DSCs have been designated as “Functional Safety Ready.” A product that contains the “Functional Safety Ready” designation offers integrated hardware safety features, Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) reports and safety manuals. A TÜV SÜD-certified C-compiler and a complete and fully qualified development environment are also available.

The Right Mix of Peripherals

Our dsPIC33E family of DSCs offers a rich set of application-specific peripherals to help you develop real-time control systems. The combination of motor control Pulse-Width Modulators (PWMs) and a DSP engine allows you to implement high-efficiency, high-precision, variable-speed, constant-torque, Proportional Integral (PI) control and Field Oriented Control (FOC) of motors in a variety of applications. Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) PWMs, multiple high-speed Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), Programmable Gain Amplifiers (PGAs) and a Central Processing Unit (CPU) with fast and predictable interrupts enable the execution of tight control loops and powerful algorithms to maximize efficiency in digital power conversion applications at all load conditions. This high level of analog integration reduces your design’s cost and form factor. To enable connectivity in your application, these DSCs include up to two CAN modules for robust communication, as well as USB and other serial communication peripherals
