Microchip Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server Overview


The Microchip MCP Server employs the Model Context Protocol to power AI chatbots and intelligent applications. It enables structured, real-time access to Microchip’s product data, documentation and inventory using natural language queries from MCP clients.

Built on MCP streamable HTTP standards, the server delivers context-aware, JSON-encoded responses optimized for AI clients such as copilots, AI chatbots, LLM-based IDEs, and enterprise AI agents. The platform supports a wide range of applications and integrates Microchip’s data directly into development environments and intelligent assistants. The Microchip MCP Server is publicly accessible at no cost and requires no authentication.

How to use Microchip MCP Server

Microchip MCP Server is a remote MCP server that uses streamable HTTP. It is compatible with MCP client applications that can connect to the endpoint.

Note: This endpoint is designed for programmatic access by MCP clients via streamable HTTP. It does not support direct access from a web browser and may return an error if accessed manually. It is governed by the MCP Server Terms of Use below.

  • Context-aware and verified responses directly from Microchip’s systems
  • Up-to-date access to product specifications, stock levels, lead times and export control data
  • Supports chatbots, copilots, ChatGPT, Claude® and any MCP-enabled clients to ensure current, consistent and contextual information delivery

Model Data Context Coverage:

  • The MCP Server’s data model includes comprehensive product and supply chain information:
    • Identification: part number, description, product type and URLs
    • Physical Specs: package type, dimensions, lead count and weight
    • Supply Chain: stock quantities, lead times, order multiples and packaging options
    • Documentation: datasheets, images, product specification data and user guides
    • Compliance: RoHS, ECCN, HTSUS, MSL, country of origin, etc.

Integration and Usage:

  • No authentication is required to access the Microchip MCP Server
  • Users can connect via their preferred MCP enabled clients such as: agentic IDEs, chatbots, copilots or MCP inspectors
  • Supports natural language queries such as:
    • "Overview of ATmega328P?”
    • “Is dsPIC33FJ128GP802 RoHS compliant?”
  • Returns JSON-structured data including specifications, documentation links and inventory information
