E-paper EPD PICtail Plus Daughter Board
E-paper EPD PICtail™ Plus Daughter Board is an extension board to the Microchip® Explorer 16 Development Board. EPD PICtail Plus Daughter Board is designed to kick-start e-paper development with Microchip Graphic Library and PIC Microcontrollers including PIC24, dsPIC33 and PIC32 families.
There is on board 40 pins FPC connector connects to our E Ink based EPD panels. The driving circuit supports driving 1.44 inch, 2 inch and 2.7 inch EPD panels via SPI interface. All three sizes of EPD ship with the EPD PICtail Plus Daughter Board. The sample Microchip MPLAB® X IDE project provides source driving waveform including global update and partial update with command interface to update content on EPD panel for developer to start working with EPD application easily.
Third-Party Graphics Design Tools
SEGGER Microcontroller develops and distributes hardware and software development tools as well as software components for embedded systems. SEGGER has board support packages (BSPs) and complete projects available for various Microchip Eval boards. Some packages are executable demos, which cannot be modified; some packages are trial versions, which come with the software in a library and the application in source code form, as well as a project for the IDE that has been used. Trial versions can usually be recompiled easily in less than a minute if the required compiler and IDE is installed. The application program can be modified, allowing intensive tests of the software.
emWin (GUI) is the most efficient and comprehensive embedded GUI package available. emWin helps developers beat their timelines and cut their development costs. It is written in ANSI "C" and supports any black /white, grayscale or color display. emWin trial versions usually also contain a simulation environment which allows test and recompilation on a PC.
Visual Graphics Display Designer (VGDD) lets you easily draw complex user interfaces for your embedded project based on Microchip`s Graphics Object Library. Supports PIC24, dsPIC and PIC32 MCU families. You can use all the original GOL objects (Button, StaticText, etc.) and GPL objects (Arc, Circle, Line, Rectangle) plus several custom and external widgets. You can create an unlimited number of screens with many widgets on each. Converts fonts and bitmaps easily. VGDD generates pure C code that can be added to existing MPLAB IDE projects. It also includes a Wizard that generates complete projects for many combinations of development boards and displays. The built-in simulator allows you to test and evaluate the user interface on a PC, and even distribute it to others using a freeware player. VGDD runs on Windows; the freeware player also runs on Linux and Mac. Single PC license.
Embedded Wizard - GUI Solutions by TARA Systems
Embedded Wizard is TARA Systems embedded GUI technology that enables you to create platform-independent and high-performance graphical user interfaces (GUI), even on resource-constrained microcontrollers. With Embedded Wizard Studio’s fully integrated IDE, developing graphical user interfaces for embedded devices is easy. Sophisticated utilities, like the object browser and the ‘element inspector’, provide you with an easy overview of the application structure and give you quick access to its members. You will find everything you need in one familiar place. To document the structure of your GUI application, Embedded Wizard can automatically create Microsoft HTML help files (chm), which are especially helpful when transferring your project to colleagues, customers or third parties for maintenance and modifications. Embedded Wizard Studio facilitates the handling of different themes, layouts, screen resolutions and color schemes within one GUI project.
MPU users have a wide choice for developing GUIs. Many people use the simple graphic functions that are built into Linux. For an improved GUI experience, customers can choose a graphic framework from companies that support Microchip’s SAMA5 MPU family with SDKs, such as The Qt Company or Qt Project, Crank Software, Segger emWIN, Express Logic GUI-X, TouchGFX, Embedded Wizard among others.
