Overview

The LX7730-DB Daughter Board is a hardware platform intended to speed up the development process for the LX7730 radiation-hardened by design spacecraft telemetry manager.

The LX7730-DB Daughter Board contains a soldered in place ceramic-packaged LX7730LMFQ-ES, peripherals, and FMC connector to allow LX7720 functionality to be quickly evaluated with FPGA evaluation boards such as RTG4 FPGA DEV-KITRT PolarFire FPGA RTPF-DEV-KITPolarFire FPGA MPF300-EVAL-KIT, and SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA M2S150-ADV-DEV-KIT.

A linker board is included which connects the LX7730-DB's FMC connector to the 4 I/O headers on a SAMRH71F20-EK evaluation kit, a hardware platform used to evaluate the radiation-hardened by design SAMRH71F20, one of Microchip's family of high-reliability 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M7 microcontrollers for space.

All the LX7730-DB's FMC connections are routed on the linker board to grouped 2-row headers. The 2-row headers allow easy link selection of parallel port, serial ports, ADC clock, reset input, and BLO comparator outputs to predefined SAMRH71F20 peripheral allocations. No connections are hard-wired. These peripheral allocations are selected by fitting shorting links to the appropriate headers. The shorting link headers also provide convenient points to wire the LX7730-DB into a different system or harness.

A granddaughter board is included which optionally plugs into the Daughter Board's analog signal input headers to provide a signal patching surface.

The following are key features of the LX7730-DB Daughter Board:

  • Supports direct connection to FPGA evaluation boards with an FMC connector such as RTG4 FPGA DEV-KIT, RT PolarFire FPGA RTPF-DEV-KIT, PolarFire FPGA MPF300-EVAL-KIT, and SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA M2S150-ADV-DEV-KIT
  • A linker board is included to connects the FMC connector directly to a SAMRH71F20-EK evaluation kit 
  • On-board boost converter optionally generates the LX7730's 15V VCC supply from the controller's logic supply, or an external VCC supply can be switched in instead
