Product Roundup: June 2025

Microchip's Product Roundup features a selection of our latest products, reference designs and software solutions. Explore how these innovative technologies can elevate your next design project.

Libero® SoC Design Suite v2025.1

The Libero SoC Design Suite is a comprehensive set of development tools and integrated design environment for Microchip FPGAs and SoCs. The latest version, Libero SoC Design Suite v2025.1, expands the Libero ecosystem to support PolarFire® Core FPGAs and PolarFire Core SoC FPGAs, addressing the growing demands of embedded designers in industrial, automotive and aerospace applications. In addition to new device support, Libero v2025.1 delivers improvements across IP cores, memory subsystem handling, transceiver tuning, simulation accuracy and SmartDebug capabilities. Enhancements such as hardware description language (HDL) with SmartDesign editing, updated simulation models and advanced timing analysis help streamline design workflows. Corresponding updates to SmartHLS™ compiler software and the PolarFire SoC Microprocessor Subsystem (MSS) configurator further improve high-level synthesis efficiency and Double Data Rate (DDR) memory configuration accuracy.

MCP164GX1000 Power Management Integrated Circuit

The MCP164GX1000 is a highly integrated Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) with eight 1.5A buck converters, four 300 mA internal Low-Drop Voltage Regulators (LDOs) and one LDO controller to drive an external MOSFET. For flexibility, there are two new devices the MCP164GX100AB with DDR4 memory and MCP164GX100AA with LPDDR4 memory. These PMICs can result in a 48% area reduction with less than 60% of the component count of a discrete solution. A key feature of these PMICs is the capability to change VOUT levels dynamically for all converters in 12.5 mV/25 mV increments. Optimized for edge computing applications, the MCP164GX1000 is designed to power Microchip’s PIC64-GX MPUs and FPGAs, speeding up development and time to market.

LAN8832/42 Single-Port 10/100/1000BASE-T PHY

The LAN8842 is a low-power, single-port, triple-speed (10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T) Ethernet physical layer transceiver (PHY) that supports transmission and reception of data on standard CAT-5, as well as CAT-5e and CAT-6, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables. Targeted for industrial and general embedded applications, the LAN8842 supports Serial Gigabit Media Independent Interface (SGMII) providing a compact Ethernet transceiver interface for MPUs, FPGAs and Ethernet switch chips. The LAN8842 features IEEE® 1588 timestamping, Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and TSN frame preemption support. The LAN8842 is available in a 56-pin, RoHS-compliant VQFN package with commercial (0°C to +70°C) and extended industrial (−40°C to +105°C) temperature ranges. Additionally, Microchip introduced the LAN8832, with all the same the benefits of the LAN8842 without IEEE 1588 timestamping.

AVRCore Development Tool

The AVRCore development tool enables Arduino® compatibility with select Curiosity Nano evaluation boards. This integration allows users to rapidly prototype with Microchip hardware using the Arduino integrated development environment (IDE). AVRCore is a good solution for makers, developers and innovators looking to streamline their projects. Microchip will be releasing support for new boards on a quarterly basis.
