SVM

Space vector modulation (SVM) is an improved technique for generating a fundamental sine wave thatprovides a higher voltage to the motor in a 3-phase system, lower total harmonic distortion, and controlsthe number of short pulses in the PWM waveform.

Features and Benefits

  • Modulation Technique :
    • Implements the Min-Max method, which requires minimal computation.
    • This technique is used to increase inverter voltage gain and reduce inverter losses.
  • Waveform Generation :
    • Generates a fundamental sine wave with a higher voltage output.
    • Lowers total harmonic distortion.
    • Controls the number of short pulses in the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) waveform.
  • Operational Features :
    • Computes and generates the third harmonic voltage from the minimum and maximum values of instantaneous three-phase reference voltages.
    • Controlled by a Finite State Machine (FSM).
