Three Phase PWM

The Three-phase Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) generates carrier-based, center-aligned PWM to trigger the switches of a three-phase inverter. The module also introduces a configurable dead time to avoid dead short circuits. A delay time can be introduced to synchronize multiple three-phase PWM block instantiations for multi-axis or for harmonic cancellation in the case of multi-level inverters.

Features and Benefits

  • Signal Generation :
    • Generates three-phase, carrier-based, center-aligned Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals.
    • The signals are based on three independent reference inputs.
  • Safety and Synchronization:
    • Dead Time: Introduces a configurable dead time to prevent dead short circuits in the inverter bridge by ensuring one transistor turns off before the other turns on.
    • Delay Time: Allows a delay to be introduced to synchronize multiple 3-phase PWM blocks for multi-axis systems or for harmonic cancellation in multi-level inverters.
  • Control and Output:
    • An enable/disable signal allows for the PWM output signals to be shut down within a single system clock cycle.
    • Generates timing pulses for other blocks, with a configurable option of one or two pulses per PWM period.
