Radiation-Tolerant Mil-Plastic FPGAs

High Reliability, Low Cost and Short Lead Times for New Space Applications

Our sub-QML FPGAs for space applications bridge the gap between traditional Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) components and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components, which typically have little to no radiation or reliability data. For New Space’s low- to mid-volume constellations with stringent cost and schedule requirements, sub-QML FPGAs are the optimal solution that combine the radiation tolerance of QML components with our space flight heritage that permits lower screening requirements for lower cost and shorter lead times.

Qualification and Screening Flows

The following table describes the QML and RT Mil-Plastic qualification and screening flows for RT PolarFire® SoC, RT PolarFire and RTG4™ FPGAs. The first four rows describe traditional QML screening while the fifth row describes the screening for RT Mil-Plastic products.

  • Dark green represents the best screening
  • Light green represents good screening
  • Yellow indicates a reduction in screening standards to reduce costs

Key Benefits of RT Mil-Plastic FPGAs

Radiation Tolerance

RT Mil-Plastic FPGAs offer the same silicon reliability and radiation performance as QML FPGAs.

Reliability

Using the same technology as the equivalent QML components, our RT Mil-Plastic FPGAs offer the highest reliability in the industry.

Screening and Qualification

The reduced screening flows and JEDEC qualification for RT Mil-Plastic FPGAs result in lower costs and shorter lead times for satellite constellations.

Ability to Solve Key Market Issues

Sub-QML FPGAs provide a faster and more economical production path for developers of New Space missions while delivering high reliability and radiation protection.

Featured Applications and Capabilities

RT Mil-Plastic FPGAs are excellent options for New Space constellations, medical electronics, nuclear power plant control and many other applications.
