CoaXPress

Our in-house CoaXPress FPGA solution for PolarFire® and PolarFire SoC FPGAs enables ultra-reliable, multi-Gigabit video and control over a single coaxial cable and is purpose-built for demanding embedded vision systems. With integrated device and host IP, internal equalization and long-reach cable support, it is an excellent choice for machine vision applications such as inspection, metrology and high-speed imaging. In medical endoscopes, CoaXPress delivers low-latency, high-resolution video with deterministic control and power over coax in compact, EMI-sensitive designs. For robotics, the solution supports synchronized, high-bandwidth vision streams essential for real-time perception, guidance and factory automation.

CoaXPress-to-HDMI Video Transport

  • Capture and control: Image sensors connect via MIPI® CSI-2®, with camera configuration handled through GenICam
  • Transport: Video and control data stream over CoaXPress links (up to 12.5 Gbps per connection)
  • Process: PolarFire® FPGA performs CFA-to-RGB conversion and ISP image enhancement
  • Display: Processed 4K video is output in real time over HDMI 2.0

SLVS-EC-to-CoaXPress Video Transport

  • Platform and capture: Uses the PolarFire quad-channel CXP-12 kit with an SLVS-EC camera FMC and frame grabber to capture high-resolution, high-frame-rate video
  • High-speed transport: Streams video in real time over a 4-channel CoaXPress link, delivering high bandwidth with low latency
  • Design implementation: Fully implemented and integrated using Libero® SoC Design Suite
  • Camera control: Leverages GenICam with XML-based feature description for standardized camera configuration and seamless frame-grabber interoperability
