Microchip’s HDMI TX IP is a high-performance video and audio transmission solution designed for PolarFire® and PolarFire SoC FPGA devices. The latest release significantly expands functionality by supporting both traditional HDMI 2.0 TMDS operation and next-generation HDMI 2.1 Fixed Rate Link (FRL) technology, enabling bandwidths of up to 48 Gbps. The IP supports resolutions up to 4K UHD at 60 frames per second with flexible color processing options, including RGB, YUV 4:4:4, and YUV 4:2:2 formats along with dynamic color depths ranging from 8 to 16 bits. It also adds support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) video, allowing designers to build advanced display and video processing systems with enhanced image quality and color fidelity. The core accepts both native and AXI4-Stream video/audio inputs and includes an AXI4-Lite control interface for dynamic runtime configuration. Additional enhancements such as 8-channel audio support, strobe operation for non-standard video timings, dynamic color format switching, and FRL-based transmission make the HDMI TX IP an ideal solution for high-resolution display, broadcast, industrial, and multimedia applications requiring modern HDMI 2.1 functionality and maximum interoperability.
