HDMI TX


Microchip's High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) transmitter IP supports transmitting video datadescribed in the HDMI standard specification. HDMI employs Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS) and Fixed Rate Link (FRL) to efficiently transmit substantial volumes of digital data across the extended cable distances, ensuring high-speed, serial, and reliable digital signal transmission.

  • HDMI 2.0 (TMDS mode) :  
    • Backward compatible with HDMI 1.4b 
    • Supports up to 3840 × 2160 @ 60 fps, with 8, 10, 12, or 16-bit color depth
    • Handles color formats: RGB, YUV 4:2:2, YUV 4:4:4
    • Accepts 1 or 4 symbols per pixel clock
    • Supports 2-channel LPCM audio, sampling up to 192 kHz
    • Inputs: Native video/audio or AXI4-Stream, configurable via AXI4-Lite
  • HDMI 2.1 (FRL mode) : 
    • Supports Fixed Rate Link (FRL) with up to 48 Gbps bandwidth
    • Supports 3- or 4-lane configurations, 4 symbols per pixel clock
    • Handles 1080p 60, 4K 30, and 4K 60 resolutions
    • Supports 8-bit color, with 16/18-bit FRL encoding
    • Input via Native or AXI4-Stream, with AXI4-Lite configuration support 
  • Input support:
    • AXI4-Stream — video/audio streaming input
    • Native interface — direct video/audio signals input
    • AXI4-Lite — control interface for parameter configuration, especially for high-resolution modes
