Link controllers are simple solutions for adding Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® connectivity. Unlike other Wi-Fi devices like microcontrollers (MCUs) or network controllers, link controllers do not have an on-board network stack. For this reason, they are best used as a companion device to an advanced processor. In many cases, they’re used with microprocessors (MPUs) can also accompany high-performance MCUs.
Because the application and network functions are handled by another device, link controllers are often faster and more cost effective than more complex Wi-Fi products. These qualities make them excellent candidates for industrial applications running on the Linux® Operating System (OS).
In addition to supporting both RTOS and Linux OS, our Wi-Fi link controller modules and SoCs provide robust connectivity, seamless integration and enhanced security.
From global regulatory-certified modules to chip-down SoCs, our portfolio of Wi-Fi link controller products ensures robust, reliable and safe connections in your embedded design. Click or tap on any colored box to see more information about that product.
Learn how the WILCS02 Wi-Fi link controllers deliver secure, high-speed wireless connectivity for MPU-based designs. This video demonstrates how it connects via SDIO or SPI, supports Linux and features secure boot with hardware root of trust. With Bluetooth® coexistence and robust RF performance, WILCS02 is a good choice for industrial applications.
Add Wi-Fi functionality to your embedded Linux application using our ATWILC1000-SD or ATWILC3000-SD Evaluation Kit. These kits are based on our WILC family of Wi-Fi link controller modules and are plug-and-play compatible with the SAMA5D27 microprocessor (MPU) evaluation platform.
Along with plug-and-play compatibility, these boards come with easy-to-follow instructions plus supporting tools and documentation to help you get the demo running.
The WILCS02 Wi-Fi Link Controller M.2 Module Card adds is a compact platform for adding 802.11 b/g/n connectivity to a MPU using a M.2 interface over SDIO or SPI.
The WILCS02 Wi-Fi Link Controller SD Board makes it easy to connect to the cloud using a host MPU running Linux®. It demonstrates the capability of the WILCS02PE link controller module.
