MPLAB® Code Configurator (MCC) in VS Code® with MPLAB Extensions
MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC) is now accessible within Microsoft® Visual Studio Code® (VS Code) through MPLAB Extensions for VS Code. MCC is a free graphical programming environment that generates C code for integration into embedded design projects. It enables and configures a wide range of peripherals and functions, supporting Microchip’s 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit devices, including PIC®, AVR® and SAM microcontrollers, as well as dsPIC® Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs). MPLAB Extensions for VS Code allows developers to utilize powerful MCC features within a widely used coding environment, helping to streamline the embedded development process.

MTCH9010 Liquid Detection Solution
Microchip has introduced its first turnkey device for liquid presence detection, designed to operate efficiently across a variety of environments. This compact, low-power solution features dual sensing capabilities to support both conductive and capacitive methods for contact and contactless applications. The MTCH9010 is well-suited for use in home appliances, medical devices, automotive systems and industrial equipment, where early detection of liquid can help protect assets and prevent damage. Key features include low power consumption to meet stringent energy regulations, factory pre-configuration for easy integration, self-monitoring and failsafe operation, as well as support for UART communication and configurable GPIOs. Consuming just 5 microwatts in sleep mode, the device helps end products achieve demanding power-efficiency targets, such as those set by the EU for 2027. With flexible system settings and autonomous operation, the MTCH9010 offers a reliable and durable solution for liquid detection with minimal maintenance requirements.

Libero® SoC Design Suite 2023.2 SP1 Certified to ISO 26262 ASIL D and IEC 61508 SIL
The Libero SoC Design Suite 2023.2 SP1 now includes enhanced functional safety support for SmartFusion® 2 and IGLOO® 2 FPGAs. This latest version is certified to ISO 26262 (ASIL D) and IEC 61508 (SIL 3) standards, making it suitable for safety-critical automotive and industrial applications. The new certification replaces the previous IEC 61508 SIL 3 qualification from Libero v11.8 SP4, which required manual workarounds as noted in the Functional Safety Package Errata. With Libero v2023.2 SP1, these issues have been addressed, providing tool chain-level qualification across both ISO and IEC safety standards. This update offers a more robust and comprehensive platform for developing FPGA-based systems that meet functional safety requirements.

SAMA7D65 Solar Monitor HMI Reference Design
Built around Microchip’s 1 GHz SAMA7D65 MPU, the Solar Monitor HMI Reference Design drives a bright 10-inch LVDS capacitive touchscreen with the ATMXT1066TD touchscreen controller to deliver real-time solar-farm insights—string currents, inverter output, battery-storage levels, and weather data—on a single high-resolution dashboard. The bare-metal MPLAB® Harmony framework boots the system in seconds with a lean memory footprint, while the royalty-free Microchip Graphics Suite (MGS) enables drag-and-drop GUI customization and effortless re-targeting to embedded Linux® when cloud analytics or containerized services are required. Dual Gigabit Ethernet with IEEE-1588/TSN, multiple CAN-FD and I3C channels, plus hardware crypto and TrustZone® security, let developers connect securely to SCADA networks, tracker controllers and BMS units without external gateways. Packaged in a compact 14 × 14 mm BGA with an automotive-grade roadmap, the SAMA7D65 Solar Monitor HMI shortens design cycles for utility-grade operator panels, mobile maintenance kiosks and edge-analytics gateways—delivering a rugged, low-risk path from prototype to field-deployed solar management solutions.

SAMA7D65 Home Automation Touch Panel Reference Design
Powered by Microchip’s 1 GHz SAMA7D65 MPU, the High-Resolution Display Home Automation HMI Demonstration Application pairs a vivid 10-inch LVDS capacitive touchscreen integrated with the ATMXT1066TD touchscreen controller, with the royalty-free Microchip Graphics Suite (MGS) to create a rich, brand-ready smart-home dashboard for lighting, HVAC, security, energy and AV control. The bare-metal MPLAB® Harmony stack wakes in seconds with minimal memory, while an identical MGS project can re-target to embedded Linux for cloud agents or containerized services—preserving a single codebase across product tiers. Dual Gigabit Ethernet, USB, SPI, I3C®, and up to five CAN FD enable seamless bridges to Matter, Zigbee®, Z-Wave or proprietary subsystems without external gateway PCs, and Arm® TrustZone® with hardware crypto guards credentials and OTA updates. Housed in a compact 14 × 14 mm BGA and on an automotive-grade qualification path, the SAMA7D65 Home Automation HMI accelerates development of premium in-wall controllers, room touch panels and integrator-grade hubs—delivering a fast, low-risk route from concept to elegant smart-home products.
