Product Roundup: April 2025

Microchip's Product Roundup features a selection of our latest products, reference designs and software solutions. Explore how these innovative technologies can elevate your next design project.

Expanded Portfolio of 3.3 kV mSiC™ MOSFETs

Microchip expanded its portfolio of 3.3 kV silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs designed for demanding high-voltage applications like heavy-duty EV traction inverters and Energy Storage Systems (ESS). The mSiC MOSFETs combine avalanche ruggedness, short-circuit capability, low gate charge and fast switching speeds to deliver superior system efficiency and increased power density. The low RDS(on) value of these 3.3 kV devices allows designers to optimize performance based on current handling needs. These devices are offered in an industry standard TO-247 4 lead notched package for flexible integration into various power conversion architectures. The new 3.3 kV mSiC MOSFETs include MSC080SMA330, MSC025SMA330 and MSC400SMA330

45W Auxiliary Power Supply for 800V Traction Inverters Reference Design

The 45W Auxiliary Power Supply for 800V Traction Inverters Reference Design supports a wide input range of 40V-1000V and delivers dual outputs of +22V regulated and -6V unregulated with a total power output of 45W. Optimized for 800V battery-based traction inverters, this auxiliary power supply supports functional safety for regenerative braking and ensures consistent performance across a wide range of operating conditions. By leveraging AECQ-101 qualified 1400V mSiC MOSFETs, this solution minimizes switching losses while eliminating the need for a dedicated gate driver, enhancing system efficiency and reliability. The automotive-grade transformer ensures reinforced isolation and the active start-up circuit significantly reduces standby power.
