High-Performance, 70 MIPS dsPIC® Digital Signal Controllers
Microchip’s dsPIC33E family of Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) offers performance of up to 70 MIPS, flexible peripherals and a complete ecosystem of software and hardware tools to speed your development. The dsPIC33E DSCs feature a true Digital Signal Processor (DSP) engine for very high-speed control loop execution in demanding high-performance embedded, motor control and digital power conversion applications.
Perform Under Pressure Using dsPIC33E DSCs
The dsPIC33E DSC family can resolve a wide variety of “pressure points” in embedded applications. They are well suited for designs operating in extreme environmental conditions, such as DC/DC converters, HVAC systems, automotive sensors, fans and pumps, all of which need to operate at temperatures up to 150°C and need to be able to withstand noise and vibration. Offering both 3V and 5V options, dsPIC33E DSCs can meet this wide range of requirements to create a robust design.
Peripheral Integration: the Right Mix of Peripherals
Our dsPIC33E family of DSCs offers a rich set of application-specific peripherals to help you develop real-time control systems. With the combination of motor control Pulse-Width Modulators (PWMs) and a DSP engine, these DSCs can be used to implement high-efficiency, high-precision, variable-speed, constant-torque, Proportional Integral (PI) control and Field Oriented Control (FOC) of motors in a variety of applications. Closely coupled Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) PWMs, multiple high-speed Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), Programmable Gain Amplifiers (PGAs) and a Central Processing Unit (CPU) with fast and predictable interrupts enable the execution of tight control loops and powerful algorithms to maximize efficiency in digital power conversion applications at all load conditions. This high level of analog integration will help reduce your design’s costs and form factor. To enable connectivity in your application, these DSCs include up to two CAN modules for robust communication, as well as USB and other serial communication peripherals.
Dedicated peripherals and functions have been integrated into the dsPIC33E DSCs to help increase reliability and monitoring for safety-critical applications such as appliances, medical devices, automobiles and industrial equipment. Our UL- and VDE-certified software stack and complete development ecosystem simplifies meeting IEC 60730 and ISO 26262 functional safety compliance requirements to ensure that end applications operate as intended, with safe shut down if any exception or issue arises.
