The MIC5167 high-efficiency, 6A, integrated switch, synchronous buck (step-down) regulator for double data rate (DDR) or quad data rate (QDR) termination achieves more than 94% efficiency. The ultra-high speed control loop keeps the output voltage in regulation under the extreme transient load swings commonly found in high speed memories. The output voltage VTT regulates to one-half the voltage applied to the VDDQ input, and is adjustable down to 0.6V. The active high open-drain Power Good output (PG) pulls low when the output voltage is not within ±15% of VREF. The MIC5167 sources/sinks up to ±6A, switches at 1MHz, and typically uses a small 0.4μH inductor and 300μF of output capacitance.
