Power Management - PMIC

The Serial SuperFlash® Kit 2 allows evaluation of Microchip's Serial Flash Devices which are made using the SST SuperFlash® technology. The Serial SuperFlash Kit 2 contains three Serial Flash Daughter Boards. The Serial Flash Daughter Board is an evaluation board designed to interface with the mikroBUS™ connector on the Explorer 16/32 Development Board (DM240001-2). It can also interface with the PICtail™ Plus connector located on the Explorer 16 Development Board (DM240001).
The MIC2205 is a high efficiency 2MHz PWM synchronous step-down switching regulator that features a LOWQ LDO standby mode that draws only 18μA of quiescent current. The MIC2205 features an ultra-low noise, small size, and high efficiency solution for portable power applications.
The MIC2250, a high efficiency, low EMI boost regulator is optimized for noise sensitive hand held battery powered applications. The proprietary control method allows low ripple across the output voltage and current ranges. Additionally, the MIC2250’s DITH function introduces a pseudo-random dithering of the switching frequency to reduce EMI levels by up to 10dB. The MIC2250 operates from an input voltage range of 2.5 to 5.5V. This board enables the evaluation of the MIC2250, a fully integrated, general purpose boost regulator with high efficiency over a wide load range. The board includes jumpers to allow manual setting of enable and dither functions.

MIC2253-06YML Evaluation Board

The MIC2253 is a high power density 1MHz PWM DC/DC boost regulator. The 3.5A minimum switch current limit combined with a 1MHz switching frequency allows the MIC2253 to use smaller inductors and deliver high power in a tiny solution size. The 2.5V to 10V input voltage range of MIC2253 allows direct operation from 1 and 2 cell Li-ion as well as 3 to 4 cell NiCad, NiMH, Alkaline or lithium batteries. Maximum battery life is assured with a low 0.1μA shutdown current.
The MIC2295 is a small 1.2MHz constant frequency PWM DC/DC step-up switching regulator.
The MIC2297 is a 600kHz PWM White LED Driver optimized for 6 to 10 series WLEDs. With an output voltage of up to 42V and a guaranteed 1.2A on the internal power switch, the MIC2297 can easily drive 10 WLEDs at 20mA continuous current. The MIC2297 features WLED brightness control using the BRT pin and has output over voltage protection (OVP) to protect the device in case the WLEDs are disconnected unexpectedly.
This board enables the evaluation of the MIC2298, a fully integrated 7W net output minimum High Power white LED driver. The board includes components necessary to set the LED current to 20%, 50% and 100% of the nominal LED current (1A). The external inputs also allow the LED current to be programmed either with additional resistors or voltages on the DIM or BRT pins. Also the enable pin can be driven to force the part into low IQ mode.

The MIC2870 is a high-current, high-efficiency flash LED driver for one or two high-brightness camera flash LEDs. The LED driver current is generated by an integrated inductive boost converter with 2MHz switching frequency which allows the use of very small inductor and output capacitor. The MIC4826 and MIC4827 are high voltage EL (Electroluminescent) drivers designed for driving EL lamps of up to 6 in2 (typically). The input supply voltage range is from 1.8V to 5.5V, making both devices suitable for one-cell Li-Ion and two-cell NiCad/NiMH/Alkaline applications. Both devices use a single inductor and a minimum number of passive components. The nominal AC output voltage that is applied to the EL lamp is 160V for the MIC4826 and 180V for MIC4827. The chip can be enabled or disabled by connecting the resistor on RSW and REL to VDD or ground, respectively.

The MIC4833 is a low noise dual Electroluminescent (EL) Panel driver used in backlighting applications. The MIC4833 converts a low DC voltage to a high DC voltage using a boost converter and then alternates the high DC voltage across the EL panels using an H-bridge. The MIC4833 incorporates internal wave-shaping circuitry specifically designed to reduce audible noise emitted by EL panels. The two EL panels may be dimmed by applying a PWM signal to the device.
The MIC94161/2/3/4/5 is a family of high-side load switches designed to operate from 1.7V to 5.5V input voltage. The load switch pass element is an internal 14.5mΩ RDSON N-Channel MOSFET which enables the device to support up to 3A of continuous current.
