Key Features

The Building Block Solutions – Automotive LDOs (BBS-LDO)  is a modular demonstration platform designed to evaluate and demonstrate the features of several Microchip Technology automotive-grade low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators. The board consists of nine independent sub-modules, each featuring a different LDO regulator, allowing users to easily test, compare, and integrate these solutions into their own designs.

  • BBS1: MCP1722 – Dual-output LDO
    • Providing 10V and 3.3V rails from an 11V–55V input, with shutdown, short circuit foldback, thermal protection, and power good monitoring. Ideal for automotive systems requiring multiple regulated voltages from high-voltage sources.
  • BBS2: MAQ5283 – High Voltage, High PSRR, Adjustable LDO
    • Adjustable 3V output from a 6V–120V input, with high PSRR, current limit, thermal protection, and bypass capacitor for noise reduction. Suitable for sensitive analog and RF automotive applications.
  • BBS3: MCP1781 – High Voltage, Adjustable LDO
    • Adjustable 5V output from a–55V input, supporting up to 200mA, with shutdown, sh6Vort circuit foldback, and thermal protection. Designed for flexible voltage rails in automotive and industrial systems.
  • BBS4: MCP1826S – 1A LDO
    • Fixed 5V output from a 5.5V–6V input, up to 1A, with current limit and thermal protection. Ideal for high-current automotive power rails.
  • BBS5: MCP1825S – 500mA LDO
    • Fixed 1.8V output from a 2.1V–6V input, up to 500mA, with current limit and thermal protection. Suitable for medium-current automotive and industrial applications.
  • BBS6: MAQ5300 – Very Low Dropout Linear Regulator
    • Fixed 3.3V output from a 3.5V–5.5V input, up to 300mA, with shutdown, current limit, and thermal protection. Designed for efficient low-voltage rails in automotive systems.
  • BBS7: MCP1726 – 1A LDO
    • Adjustable 3.3V output from a 3.8V–6V input, up to 1A, with shutdown, current limit, thermal protection, and power good monitoring. Ideal for high-current automotive loads.
  • BBS8: MIC5233 – High Voltage LDO
    • Fixed 1.8V output from a 2.3V–36V input, up to 100mA, with shutdown, current limit, thermal protection, reverse battery, and reverse leakage protection. Suitable for low-voltage automotive logic and sensor applications.
  • BBS9: MCP1793 – High Voltage LDO
    • Fixed 5V output from a 6.2V–55V input, up to 100mA, with shutdown, short circuit foldback, and thermal protection. Ideal for powering logic and communication modules.
