Accelerate Motor Control and Embedded Development With Microchip
Microchip rounds out its newest release wave with tools built for engineers developing and debugging embedded systems—from a dual-core motor control daughter card to an OpenOCD debug probe, a new Curiosity Nano and a functional safety development kit.
Every embedded project reaches a point where the right tool makes all the difference—whether that means prototyping a multi-core motor control system, debugging firmware without a proprietary toolchain or getting started on a safety-critical design. Microchip's newest development tools are built to meet engineers at exactly those moments.
dsPIC33CH512MP508 Dual MC DIM—Dual-Core Motor Control Daughter Card
Part: EV62S33A

Developing multi-axis or dual-loop motor control systems often means managing communication and timing between multiple cores. The EV62S33A addresses this with a dual motor control daughter card built around the dsPIC33CH512MP508, a dual-core Digital Signal Controller with a dedicated master core for system supervisory tasks and a high-speed slave core for the control loop.
The Daughter Interface Module (DIM) supports Field-Oriented Control (FOC) and sensorless algorithms, is compatible with the MCLV-2 and MCHV-3 development boards, and is well suited for BLDC, PMSM and stepper motor applications.
Best for: Dual-core motor control prototyping and multi-axis or dual-loop control architectures
OpenOCD Debug Probe
Part: DV22S07A

Debugging firmware without being locked into a proprietary toolchain is a common challenge for teams running Linux-based workflows or CI/CD pipelines. The DV22S07A addresses this with native OpenOCD compatibility, bridging Microchip hardware with the open-source OpenOCD framework.
The probe supports JTAG and SWD debug interfaces and works with popular open-source tools such as VS Code, Eclipse and GDB, making it a practical fit for automated testing and CI/CD embedded pipelines.
Best for: Open-source debug workflows, CI/CD pipelines and Linux-based development environments
dsPIC33CK VL Curiosity Nano
Part: EV08P02A

Getting started with a new microcontroller family should not require a complex setup. The EV08P02A brings our Curiosity Nano platform to the dsPIC33CK Value Line, a cost-optimized Digital Signal Controller for motor control, digital power and signal processing in cost-sensitive designs.
The board is USB-powered with an onboard PKOB nano programmer/debugger, supports drag-and-drop firmware programming with no external tools required and works with MPLAB Code Configurator for fast peripheral setup.
Best for: Cost-sensitive motor control and digital power prototyping, and rapid dsPIC33CK evaluation
RTPF-DEV-KIT-ZT-1—Functional Safety Development Kit
Part: RTPF-DEV-KIT-ZT-1
Building a safety-critical system often starts with finding a reliable hardware and software starting point. The RTPF-DEV-KIT-ZT-1 is a new development kit targeting real-time power and functional safety applications, providing reference designs and firmware intended to support development aligned with IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 practices.
The kit supports real-time power monitoring with fault detection, making it a practical starting point for industrial and automotive safety-critical applications.
Best for: Functional safety design entry and real-time power monitoring with fault detection
