The recommended alternative touch controller is ATMXT336U.

The mXT224S uses Microchip's patented capacitive touch technology for the highest-performance smart phones.
With 224 nodes, the mXT224S touchscreen controller supports 2.0mm passive stylus, moisture robustness and superior noise immunity.

Additional Features
  • Supports up to 10 concurrent touches in real time with touch size reporting
  • Communication via I2C serial interface
  • Integrated voltage doubler option to increase the signal to noise ratio (SNR)
  • Supports glove (2mm) touch
  • Support thick lenses (up to 2mm plastic)
  • Packages: UQFN56 and UFBGA64
