As part of Microchip's portfolio of powerful Metro OTN solutions, the PM5442 META- 120G enables high densityEthernet and OTN line cards and IP over Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (IPoDWDM) integration on service provider switches, routers, Packet Optical Transport Platforms (POTPs) and Packet Transport Networks (PTNs). By providing converged OTN and Ethernet interfaces in 12x10G, 3x40G, mixed 10G and 40G, or 1x100G configurations, the PM5442 delivers a single-chip solution that OEMS can leverage cross multiple applications.
The META-120G delivers a rich set of mapping options required by Carrier Router and Switch line cards. The device supports GFP mapping of packet traffic including Ethernet and IP/MPLS into OTN, and also supports transparent Ethernet mapping using GMP or BMP as specified in G.709. All 10G ports support mapping of 10GE traffic into OTU2 in accordance with G.709/G.Sup43. Integrated 10G/40G/100G Ethernet MAC/PCS provide standards-compatibility and rich performance monitoring.
Designed for the leading edge of carrier routing and switching solutions, the META-120G provides OEMs with industry leading carrier Ethernet functions. In addition to 802.3ah Link OAM, the device supports packet-based timing distriution via Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE 1588v2 Precision Timing Protocol. This enables carriers to deliver the performance required for packet-based wireless backhaul infrastructure.
