RTEMS® Toolchain Downloads

The RTEMS Toolchain is used for compiling applications for the RTEMS Operating System and is also required when compiling the System Controller firmware. These downloads are installed automatically when using the quick-start script from the PIC64HPSC/HX RTEMS examples repository (login credentials are required).

Device Configurator Tool

The Device Configurator Tool (dev_cfg) is a comprehensive set of utilities for configuring, building, programming, and analyzing the power profile of PIC64­HPSC/HX devices.

Its main functions include:

  • project: Produces project files which are consumed by the image_builder, target and power function. Project files are used to specify boot configuration files at the board, system, and application levels.
  • image_builder: Builds device binaries, including flash images and OTP memory. This covers the OTP memory section (boot config, security), system controller configuration images, and application complex configuration images.
  • target: Programs device binaries onto the hardware, including OTP boot configuration, system controller flash image (for firmware upgrades), and application flash image filesystem updates. It also supports runtime configuration and device diagnostics of PIC64­HPSC/HX device.
  • power: Provides power profile estimation based on boot configuration files and power characterization.

The device configurator tool is automatically installed when using the quick-start script found with the PIC64HPSC/HX example repositories (login credentials are required) and can be downloaded separately after the 2.0.0 software release.

MPLAB® Tools for VS Code®

The PIC64HPSC/HX device configurator tool is integrated into MPLAB Tools for Microsoft® Visual Studio Code (VS Code), allowing users to access all major functions directly within the VS Code environment. This integration streamlines the workflow for platform designers and software developers, making configuration, build, and management tasks more efficient and user­ friendly.

Note that the MPLAB Tools for VS Code will be available with the 2.0.0 software release.
