Microchip’s HDMI RX IP is a feature-rich HDMI receiver solution designed for PolarFire® and PolarFire SoC FPGA devices, enabling reliable reception and processing of high-resolution video and embedded audio streams. The latest version supports HDMI 2.0 operation for resolutions up to 4K UHD at 60 frames per second in four-pixel mode while adding several advanced capabilities, including HDR10 support with both PQ and HLG profiles, expanded color depth support up to 16 bits, and enhanced AXI4-Stream integration. The IP converts incoming TMDS video streams into video pixel and audio data outputs while incorporating sophisticated skew compensation, FIFO-based lane alignment, and word synchronization mechanisms to ensure robust signal recovery. Additional features such as reconfigurable EDID, Hot Plug Detect (HPD), DDC/E-DDC communication, support for RGB and YUV color formats, and compatibility with legacy interlaced video modes provide exceptional deployment flexibility.
