The CANmodule-III is mailbox based Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol controller. It contains 32 receive buffers, each one with its own message filter, and 32 transmit buffers with round robin and prioritized arbitration scheme. For optimal support of Higher Layer Protocols (HLP) such as DeviceNet or SDC, the message filter covers the identifier field and the first two bytes of hte data field. A standard AMBA 3 Advanced Peripheral Bus (APB) enables smooth integration into ARM based SOC’s. This full synchronous bus interface can easily be connected to other system buses. The core implements the CAN protocol according to ISO-11898-1.
