Microchip’s EV44F42A evaluation board provide designers with the environment needed for evaluating the surge immunity performance and implementation of surge protection of PD applications based on the PD70210A and PD70224 devices. The boards support the detection, classification, and powering phases on the 2 and 4 pairs of the Cat5 cable. They support standard IEEE® 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at Type 2 interfaces. The board EV44F42A uses a single PD frontend device PD70210A . The board EV09H26A uses Microchip dual active bridge PD70224 and a frontend device PD70210A . This document provides all the necessary steps and connection instructions required to install and operate these boards.
The EV44F42A evaluation board provides designers with the environment needed for evaluating the implementation of surge protection and the surge immunity performance of PD applications with diode bridges for differential mode surges per ITU-T K21 2019 up to 6 kV and common mode surges per EN61000-4-5 (2014 Ed.3) up to 4 kV. The EV09H26A evaluation board provides designers with the environment needed for evaluating the implementation of surge protection and the surge immunity performance of PD applications with active bridge PD70224 for common mode surges per EN61000-4-5 (2014 Ed.3) up to 4 kV.
