Overview

The Digital Mixed-signal Power Manager Daughter Card Kit enables system designers to evaluate the functionality of Microchip's power management solutions, which offer support for up to 64 channels, mixed analog and digital point of load (POL) control, PMBus support for digital POLs and margining and trimming for analog POLs. The DMPM-DC-KIT is a five-regulator benchtop power management development system that allows designers to understand the features and capabilities of the full MPM solution before designing their own PCB.

The DMPM daughter card includes two analog regulators, three digital POLs, two voltage bias potentiometers and five fault introduction push-button switches, implementing five fully independent mixed signal power supplies that can be varied and interrupted to demonstrate the management capabilities of Microchip's mixed-signal power management solution, MPM. MPM takes advantage of the processing power and programmable flexibility of the SmartFusion ® System-on-Chip (SoC) FPGA devices included on the SmartFusion Evaluation Kit or SmartFusion Development Kit when these kits are connected to the MPM daughter card and programmed with the MPM demonstration design.

The DMPM daughter card features:

  • Two analog independent regulators - 3.3 V (1 each) and 1.5 V (1 each)
  • Each rail includes voltage bias potentiometer and enable interrupt push-button switch for fault introduction
  • Three digital POLs - 3.3 V (1 each) and 1.5 V (2 each)
  • Each rail includes an enable interrupt push-button switch for fault introduction
  • Eight LEDs available for MPM combinatorial digital flag assignment
  • Completely independent 9 V power supply with independent power switch
  • Fully isolated from motherboard power domains
  • Connects to SmartFusion mixed signal header on A2F-DEV-KIT-2 or A2F-EVAL-KIT-2 boards
  • For use with MPM for SmartFusion Reference Design, including full Libero ® software project and firmware C source code downloadable from Microchip

MPM for SmartFusion using SmartFusion Evaluation Kit or SmartFusion Development Kit with the DMPM Daughter Card offers these key benefits:
