Microchip zSDK

Zephyr® Software Development Kit for Our Platforms

This is a framework delivering a minimally-customized Zephyr® distribution, downstream modules and Microchip libraries—one trusted starting point to build, flash and debug on our devices.

This development kit is built on the open Zephyr ecosystem and the West meta-tool—a single manifest pins every repository to a fully validated revision.

Why It Matters

  • Faster time to market with demos and scripts that help reduce setup time
  • Early access to new devices and drivers before upstream availability
  • Help reduce maintenance risk with revision-locked releases aligned with upstream
  • Designed for production environments with extended validation and secure boot support

Announcing Microchip zSDK v4.4.0.0

Built on Zephyr® v4.4.0—Broadening Device Coverage and Production Readiness

  • Five new boards including PIC32CK SG01/GC01, PIC32CM SG00/GC00 and SAM9X75 Curiosity Development Board
  • New drivers for USB Device Controller (UDC), Secure Digital Host Controller (SDHC), Quad Serial Peripheral Interface (QSPI)/NVMCTRL Flash, Direct Memory Access (DMA), Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), Controller Area Network (CAN) and Ethernet Gigabit Media Access Controller (GMAC)
  • Simplified programming with MPLAB® IPE flashing via West Flash for PIC32C boards
  • Secure boot support with a new MCUboot sample (swap-using-move) on PIC32CK Curiosity Ultra Development Board

MPLAB® XC32 Compiler Support in Zephyr RTOS

MPLAB XC32 is an officially supported toolchain in the Zephyr Project. You can now compile Zephyr RTOS applications for our 32-bit devices using MPLAB XC32, with complete setup instructions available in the Zephyr documentation.

Percepio—Visual Observability for Zephyr Developers

Percepio provides advanced observability tools that help developers accelerate debugging and improve software quality on Zephyr-based systems.

Tracealyzer offers powerful visual trace diagnostics for in-depth insight into real-time behavior, performance bottlenecks and system interactions.

Percepio View, a free runtime monitoring solution for Zephyr, provides live observability in production and test environments, enabling early detection of issues and faster root-cause analysis.

Together, these tools give developers a complete visibility solution, from development to deployment, to fully support our Zephyr-enabled platforms.
