Description
EtherCAT® communication is based on a cyclic execution of tasks starting from the EtherCAT host with a constant EtherCAT telegram repeat rate. The constant repeat rate is known as the cycle time. For majority of the applications, a cycle time longer than 500 µs is sufficient. However, in some industrial applications, a shorter cycle time is needed. This application note describes the cycle time and steps to measure it in TwinCAT EtherCAT host.
