Voltage-Controlled Crystal Oscillators (VCXOs)

VCXO: A Crystal Oscillator With Variable Frequency

A VCXO is a crystal oscillator that includes a varactor diode and associated circuitry, which allows the frequency to be changed by applying a voltage across that diode. This can be accomplished in a simple clock or sinewave crystal oscillator. Adding the diode to a Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) will create a TC/VCXO. Adding the diode to an Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) will create an OC/VCXO.
