The I2C bus is the most popular choice for serial EEPROMs, and Microchip engineers have been working with the protocol for years. For this seminar, they have created seven usage recommendations based on questions most often asked by customers. This web seminar begins with a discussion of the reasons for the protocol?s popularity, including minimal use of microcontroller pins and low cost. Then several hardware recommendations are offered as ways to better protect data, increase throughput, and extend battery life. Finally, firmware suggestions explain the use of the acknowledge bit as well as other ways to increase data throughput.

As marketing manager for Microchip's memory business, Barry's focus is on defining and marketing new products for the company's serial EEPROM product line. Before joining Microchip, he worked in business development at Intel Corporation where he marketed embedded control products. Barry has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University.
