Pickit 2 support for 16(L)F1826/27

I needed support for the Pickit 2 and the new 16(L)F1826/27, so I made a patch utility to add the devices.
(Because official upgrade support has ceased). Please try it and inform me over the result.
Devicefile 1.6x needs to be installed, and ONLY works with the PK2 program, NOT from IDE...
Utility: http://www.uploadarchief.net/files/download/pk2patch_16x.zip

Regards,
Peter

Nice work peter. I have some 16F1827's "in the mail" and I was wondering what programmer I would hack to program them. Looks like the works been done for me.

Is there a reference to the pkdevicefile.dat entries? While I'm waiting for the parts to arrive I could give it an eye over.

There is a PDF document ('PicKit2 Interface Guide') that comes with the PicKit2 source code files...

I know the PicKit3 (which I also have) can also program the devices, but I do not like it very much. It also lacks a stand-alone programming interface which we needed...

Indeed! Thanks for that. Had it here all along, Seems I didn't copy all the files out of the zip file or centralized the location of the PDF so I would always know where to find it.

Forgot to mention that your patch installer worked straight out of the box too. Now if Santa can just knock on my door with those chips....

Anyone got a good tool or recommendation on adding/editing the "PK2DeviceFile.DAT"file?
Visual studio 2005 works, but not so easy to use.

pk2 is open-source.  There is source code for loading the device file into memory in the programmer source.  Someone just needs to put a GUI on it for editing and reverse the load routine to save it back to a file!

I've seen lots of noise about people wanting MC to open-source MPLAB, but nobody does much with the MC stuff that is open-source!

    (Except P Lameijn; good work!)

Indeed, by using the VS2005 opening the PK2DeviceFile.dat in a binary editor is really painful.
