Utility for driver management

usbdeview is quite famous here.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

DriverView can be useful as well.

usbview is essential even it is not for driver management.

If you are running Vista or Win7, pnputil is very powerful.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff550419(v=vs.85).aspx

PnPUtil (PnPUtil.exe) is a command line tool that lets an administrator perform the following actions on driver packages:

    1) Adds a driver package to the driver store.

    2) Deletes a driver package from the driver store.

    3) Enumerates the driver packages that are currently in the driver store. Only driver packages that are not in-box packages are listed. An in-box driver package is one which is included in the default installation of Windows or its service packs.

If you want to write a driver installer, maybe you want to take a look at the open source libwdi.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/libwdi/

If you need a generic USB driver, you can look at WinUSB or libusb-win32.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff540196.aspx
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/

libwdi's zadig utility can create driver package for both WinUSB and libusb-win32.

Microsoft's DIFx and DPinst can be very useful for driver installer.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff544838(v=VS.85).aspx

Of course you can use other installers to help as well.

This is very cool, but only for Windows 7.
    http://driverstoreexplorer.codeplex.com/

DriverStoreExplorer GUI makes it easier to deal with Windows 7 driver store. Supported operations include enumeration, adding a driver package (stage), adding & installing, deletion and force deletion from the driver store.
