PICKit 3 Stand Alone Programmer v1.0 - Results

I was very exited to see the new GUI posted for PK3!
Regrettably, the result is still the usual as it was with the beta version: sad

    Hey Peter,

    I happened to throw in a 16LF1936 and tried to reproduce the problem with no success.  I'm using Windows7-64 bit.  Can you share a bit more about your setup?  What OS are you using, are you powering the device from your board, or the PK3?  What is your VDD set to?  Can you paste the details of your error so we might have a better indication of where things went awry?

    Thanks, sorry you're having difficulties.

    Hello Bill,

    I use 3.3volt, and the device has no external power. (It only uses a few mA for a led)
    The OS is Win2KSp4r1

    The error text:

    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Tested some more.
    Programming seems to work, but reading a device always fails...

    Isn't it possible to add the new devices to the Pickit2? The Pickit2 is a fine programmer for development and most people I speak prefer the Pickit2 over the Pickit3. Then we can at least use that until the Pickit3 becomes 'mature' and reaches the same level as the Pickit2...

    Support for the '1936 was added to the PICkit 2 GUI: Current PICkit 2 Device Support (June 2010)

    Do you see this with any other devices?

    Just tested, also happens wth 16lf1827, 16f886, and 18f26k20...
    (The 16F1xxx, 16f886 crash after 6 seconds or so; the 26k20 takes some 0.5 seconds before crashing.)
    Support for the '1936 was added to the PICkit 2 GUI:

    Yes, I know. But I need 18F67K22 support urgently, and that's not included regrettably.
