Buy hundreds of MAC address license from Microchip, how to?

Hello, we would like to buy hundreds of MAC address license from Microchip.
We know we can sublicence and buy it for USB, there is a web application where we can buy some license for the USB.
Is it possible to buy also for ethernet MAC address number ?
I know there are some eeprom with valid mac address, but we use the 25LC256 eeprom and we don't want to change eeprom, so how we can get some valid MAC address number?
Thanks a lot
Bye

You don't have to buy from Microchip.
you may be better to buy 4096 addresses block from IEEE instead:
    http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/registry_IAB.html

Since you did not define how many you need for more you may buy 24 bits instead...

    Hello,

    I only need 60 MAC/year TOP.
I think 4096 MAC's are too much for me, is there any smaller package?

I also use already a memory device, and my project is battery dependent, so I need all Amps I can save.
Does Microchip sub license the MAC's also?

I use PIC18F96J60, this devices could already have a built-in MAC, it would be easier for me.

    Thanks for any tip,

The odds are at least some part of the hardware you are using will have a MAC in it already, hence you'd just use this.

What hardware are you using? i.e. chipset and PHY etc

Under IEEE rules, companies are not allowed to sublicense MAC addresses to other companies.  USB IDs are governed by the USB Implementer's Forum, which is a different entity with different rules.

The 25AA02E48 [ http://www.microchip.com/wwwproducts/Devices.aspx?dDocName=en538613 ] is likely your cheapest and best solution for your production quantity and power constraint.  Its idle current is at least two orders of magnitude smaller than the sleep current of the PIC18F97J60 making it rather negligible.  You could power Vdd of the 25AA02E48 using a MCU GPIO pin to reduce the idle current to zero.

He could also buy the ID Chips, copy the MAC address to his EEPROM then toss  or store the Chips.

I confess that that already passed my mind, I think it's legal.
Since I have a very low units it wont be a lot of effort to copy the MAC from the CHIP and write in my project and store the chips.
Is there any low-cost PDIP type chip? It would be easier to read from several PDIPs than SMD type...

    Thanks,

What I am doing is buying the 93AA46AE devices from Microchip and reading out the MAC and loading it into my eeprom.   The problem with IEEE is they will get around to getting you address sometime within 150 days.   I can't wait 150 days or even 5 days.   Unfortunately, it will cost you as it takes a PM3 to read them, unless you want to build your own reader.
