Hello and greetings. I'm working currently in the access of a PIC32MX220F032B with the editor. I cloned the configuration from a similar PIC32MX

I've done the mask operation with
0x0FFFF000 and 0x04A00053 giving me a ID 0x00..., have configured the Prog memory ( Last address of flash memory bank minus the initial address of data ) and Config adresses according to the datasheet .

So far it was detected and it will be tested for further results.

I can't get to do any operations with pickit 2 :| It must be the config registers and it's allocations. See the datasheets from 3xx/4xx series and 1xx/2xx and there is an extra Special config register: CFGCON. Any help in remaping this registers in tge device editor would be great.

Hi all, I'm very new to this, and in the hobby-side not professional.

I would like to use 33EP256MU806 or 33EP256MC806 with pickit2. But there are no 33EP suported so I do not know what to copy and what to change. Can any one help me, what should I change from another micro, for example, 33FJ256gp506?

does somebody have device file with working 25k80 mcu? tried out to copy and change k20 & k22, but none of them worked. chip was identified, but couldn't be programmed  - verification failed. mcu is oke - have been tested with pickit3.
best regards ch.

I'm planning on buying some pic18F25K80 devices, and I only have a pickit 2. So if you have it working, I'm really interested. If you haven't got it working yet, I'd like to see your files, and try to help with checking if all parameters are filled out OK.

I got it working with the 18LF26K80, all I did to the .dat was copy the F version and change the dev id so you could do the same.  I had to manually select the part and use lvp.

the F25K80 devid should be 0x61 and 100x xxxx  (0x6180)
the LF25K80 devid should be 0x62 and 011x xxxx (0x6260)

you can get my dat file at this post:

Great job.
When a script is duplicated and edited, both the new and the original is changing. The file should be saved after duplicating a script and read again to make the separate editing possible.

I am trying to add a PIC24F08200 to the PK2Device.dat file with the Windows device file editor.
Started by duping a PIC24F04KA200 and:
    1. Changed name & id
    2. Changed program  memory size
    3. Changed number config regs to 8
    4. Changed ConfigMasks & ConfigBlank to reflect new part
    5. Saved to both Windows and Linux PK2Device.dat default locations.
PICKit 2v2.61 (Window) and pk2cmd v1.20(Linux) both detect and allow the program
erase/write/read without problem. Neither seems to allow writting to the config space.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone export device-file from MPLab or MPLab X?

That's an idea

If only everything's as nice as theory

Guys, I am writing a firmware for a new device named "PIC12F1501" and I have PICKit 2 programmer. I wonder if anyone can advise me how to use the Device File Editor to add this advice to the Device File for PICKit 2.

OK, I give up.  Did anyone ever get a file that would program the 12F1571?  I'm looking at this chip for a small sensor, but I haven't a clue about how to reliably update the device file for PICKit2 to support it.  There are appaently some documents somewhere that describe the various parameters in the device file, but I haven't found them yet.....

Anybody able to show a newbie where to look?

Regards, Brad

Hi,
Pickit3 supports all PICs with flash (almost 1000) and is regularly updated via IPE or MPLAB X when new PICs come out (i.e even PIC32MZ with 2MB is supported ;=).
It is a fast and reliable alternative to Pickit2 for PICs which have been added in the last 5 years.
Regards

Hi,
PICkit2 is a great design. With a bit of programming in firmware and PC application it could support of programming over 1160 flash controllers (from 16C83 to 32MZ and dsPIC33EV) an e-proms form Microchip. Programming could be supported without changing the firmware time to time when changing families. It supports lot of tools not fund is PICkit3: uart (with a little hardware modification up to 115200 Baud), 3 (with a little hardware modification 4) channel Logic analyzer. And many tools more...

not true ,there is no PIC18F25K80 in the device file ,its in MPLABX but not listed in PIcket3 device file even with a fresh download

I've explained to you elsewhere that the v3.10 standalone utility turns the PICkit 3 into an emulated PICkit 2.

Big clue here: the PICkit 3 v3.10 App's device file is called PK2DeviceFile.dat

If you want the officially updated software, ditch the v3.10 app and use MPLAB X IPE.

Hello, thanks a lot to dougy83 for this nice editor.

I successfully managed (so far) to program a PIC24F16KA301 with a Pickit2.
I started from a PIC24F16KA101 and modified the DeviceID to 4508h, set VddErase to 2.7V, and modified ConfigMasks / ConfigBlank as follows :

FBS : 000F
FSS : 0000
FGS : 0003
FOCSEL : 00E7
FOSC : 00FF
FWDT : 00FF
FPOR : 00FF
FICD : 0083
FDS : 00DF

I can't post links, so if you want more details search for DS39919B to find the Programming Specifications.
The devices page from the PICPgm project is also pretty interesting to start.

So far it seems the only problem I have concerns the arrays, which contains only 8 elements. I must set the FDS value directly through the configuration window of the Pickit 2 Programmer. Does someone know how to integrate a ninth element in the arrays of the device data file?

Sorry to drag this thread from the Dead, I was wondering if anyone has successfully imported the 18F26/27K40 into the device file?

I've started but I'm not 100% sure I've got everything right.

The device I've copied is the 18F26K20, can't seem to work out the Device ID, found some info over on Sourceforge
(https://gputils.sourceforge.io/html-help/PIC18F26K20-feat.html)
...but the ID of the 26K20 doesn't even seem to match that of the one I copied in the file editor. Can anyone help?
