AN953 source code?

Hi,

I read AN953 "Data Encryption Routines for the PIC18" application note ( http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1824&appnote=en022056 ).

Searching the internet, I figured that a long time ago (July 2005) someone was able to download the source code that should come together with this application note from microchip's website.

However, I am now unable to find the source code. I'm wondering if anybody out there still has the source code? would be thankful if he/she could forward that to me. Thanks!

I have no specific information about AN953, but it does contain the kind of algorithms which are often patented. What tends to happen in the industry is that an innocent company will publish information on an algorithm without knowing that it infringes a patent, only to find out later that the company who owns the patent has discovered the published information and makes a legal request for it to be removed. I am only guessing, but perhaps one algorithm in AN953 is problematic, and Microchip was forced to remove the source code.

Other threads on this forum mentions AN953:

The problem seems to be related to "Technology Export Restrictions" imposed by the U.S. government.  This Page may be helpful.  (Also possibly AN821.)

The source is downloadable from http://www.microchipdirect.com/productsearch.aspx?Keywords=sw300052 at $5 at the time of writing. I guess they find that people need to pay a small token of appreciation (which I gladly did) to them.

    But as what's mentioned in
http://forum.microchip.com/tm.aspx?m=124885&mpage=1&key=Application%2cMaestro𞟕 , there seems to be missing files (provided that the readme file is correct) for the assembly mixed in C mode.

Any help to make the code compilable is appreciated.
