I'm trying to get my SNAP debugger/programmer to work with MPLAB X IDE/IPE v 5.45 on a desktop Ubuntu/linux OS. I have also tried the SNAP on a desktop Windows 10 OS. Cant get the SNAP operational. Does anyone have any clue? I can give more info once I have someones attention. Thanks..

That's not how forums work. Please post the information, then if someone has an idea, they will respond.

Thanks to the Moderator for directions:
I am trying to debug my approach to utilization of the Microchip SNAP debugger/programmer. I am using MPLAB X IDE/IPE v.5.30 connected to a desktop with the Ubuntu 20.04 OS via a High Speed USB cable. The microcontroller I am using on my target board is a AVRmega328P. After I load my code and compile, I use the 'DEBUG' function which provides a list of functions to perform. I select 'Run Debugger/Programmer Self Test'. From the list of tools that is presented I see the Snap tool but it has a yellow caution (!) with 'Self Test not Supported-SN:BUR18307849" message. At least the IDE has seen my Snap as that is the correct Serial Number.
I tried doing this without the target board and the adapter cable and I get the same result.
This is the adapter cable wiring that I am using to connect the Snap to my target board:
Snap J4 connector pin                       Target board ICSP connector
         1-MCLR* -------------------------------   5-RST*
         2-Vdd    --------------------------------   2-5v0
         3-GND   --------------------------------   6-GND
         4-PGD   --------------------------------   1-MISO
         5-PGC   --------------------------------   3-SCK
         6- (N.U.)                                            4- (N.U.)
         7- (N.U)
         8- (N.U.)

I am not at all sure about the wiring adapter connections to the target board so I would appreciate a critique on that as well. I intend to use this for Debugging and programming.
    Thanks

The SNAP product page on the Microchip website is at
    https://www.microchip.com/developmenttools/ProductDetails/PartNO/PG164100
Looking on page 38 of the user guide, it appears you also need to connect MOSI to pin#7 of the SNAP.

I think that message is telling you there is no self test capability for the SNAP, you just have to try connecting to a real device.

n.b. this is guesswork from the datasheet, I've never used a SNAP with an AVR device.

Thank you Ric and Jim , I tried using support.microchip.com but am not familiar with that route. It is a little difficult to understand , will have to spend more time on it. In the mean time, I will update my connection adapter to include the MOSI connection.  Thanks,

The usual place to start is the blue link how to submit...
