Don't know if you will get an answer here.  You may have to open a case ticket with MicroChip

jtzeng gave a perfectly correct and reasonable response.

@Jim Nickerson,

Seems some of my benign posts have been getting down voted too. Perhaps we share a troll?

Just in case I up-voted your post#5.

Has MPLAB X v5.45 been tested with Mac OS Big Sur and do all features work as expected?

Microchip does not seems to report what versions of workstation operating systems are used for MPLABX testing.

Based on what I have seen on Windows and Linux I doubt that even the tested features work as expected. ;)

Anyone else have issued using the Git functionality in MPLAB X 5.45 on Big Sur?

I can use the command line just fine, but within MPLABX I just get prompted for my GitHub password and nothing works.

On my iMac running Big Sur, MPLAB X IDE v5.45 runs fine, so far it never crashes.  In the earlier MacOS Mojave, the only problem I have with MPLAB X is that it crashed quite frequently during start up.  I suspect it was due to the Java run time also being used by Safari. My workaround was to close Safari, wait a while, close one or two other programs (that are not important), then launch MPLAB X again.  Usually MPLAB X will be able to launch successfully after this.  Then I can re-launch Safari.  But this workaround may not work 100% of the time.  The sure work way is to log-out and log-in of MacOS (Mojave).

I didn't upgrade to Catalina, and went straight to Big Sur.  MPLAB X IDE v5.45 seems to be far more stable in Big Sur!

I can use the command line just fine, but within MPLABX I just get prompted for my GitHub password and nothing works.

The access process for git hub was changed a month or two ago.

Support for the deprecated method was turned off a few days ago.

You may need to update the git client on your workstation.

Updating my git client worked on my Windows system, I really do not know what to do for MacOS.

Thanks.  It's odd, via manual git commands on the command line in MacOS it all works fine, just not using the MPLAB X 5.45 tools within the IDE on the Mac.  IDE version 5.45 on Windows is working fine.  I wonder if the plugin in the IDE needs updating.  I've opened a support ticket, just in case it's a known issue.
