_AltU2ErrInterrupt not working for 'GL306

I'm using MPLAB V5.40 with the XC16 V1.60 compiler toolchain. The microcontroller I'm using is the PIC24FJ128GL306 with pack version 1.4.74. I get a link error when attempting to use _AltU2ErrInterrupt(). The _AltU1ErrInterrupt(), _AltU3ErrInterrupt(), and _AltU4ErrInterrupt() work fine. The _U2ErrInterrupt() also works fine. The error displayed is:

Link Error: Could not allocate section '.aivt._AltU2ErrInterrupt' at 0x1098
Link Error: Could not allocate program memory

Do you have any suggestions to correct this error? This seems like it might be an issue with either the compiler or the linker itself. Thanks.
