Difference between MPLAB v2.xx & v5.xx

Hi guys. May I know the difference between MPLAB v2.xx and v5.xx?

    Yes.  MPLab 2.xx is obsolete and MPLAB X 5.xx is current.

    and MPLABX 5.40 is the first full 64 bit version, so really should be 6.00.

    Yes.  MPLab 2.xx is obsolete and MPLab 5.xx is current.

    Both MPLAB 2.xx and MPLAB 5.xx are obsolete. 8.92 was the last version of MPLAB :)

    Mostly device and tool support.  At some point MPLAB X moved from Netbeans 6.9.1 to 8.0.2, but I don't remember when that was.  There are underlying API changes and stuff like that, of course, but most people won't care (you will if you make plugins).
