Programming ICSP connector with ATMEGA16U2 using Pickit4 debugger

Hi
I need to programming atmega16U2 using PICKIT4 debugger. I'm using MPLAB IPE V5.25 for hex file programming. During Erase the controller, I got one error message.
Message like "Unexpected status code when executing setBaud, expected 0 but got -51 (SPI_STATUS_BAUD_INVALID)"
Kindly give solution for below mention points
1. what is the issue and how to solve?
2. How to programming ATMEGAU2 using PICKIT4 debugger?

    Please update to MPLAB X v5.40  the connection diagram is in the PICkit 4 help file included with MPLAB X, please refer to that for the proper pin connection.
