ICD4 Rev 4 won't debug any variables (data or SFR) on MPLAB X v5.40

Hi everyone,

Don't know if this is the best place for this post, so please redirect me if not!

The title more or less says it all, only thing to add is that the target is a dsPIC33CH512MP206. Whenever I halt code, all watch variables and all SFR memory locations always read as 0x0000...

It has been working, but my laptop recently went for repair so I installed the latest MPLAB X and the latest Windows 10 update was installed for me. I don't know if this is the source of my problem or if it's something else - not a problem I've seen anything like before!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd try dropping backl to MPLABX 5.35. A lot changed in 5.40.

I also post at: PicForum

Thanks for the reply ric.

After I'd finished spitting my dummy out (having spent a long time figuring out a bunch of awkward DMA stuff, expecting to finesse it with some debugging and facing this) and had some room to do something about it, I remembered that it took a couple of goes to get 5.40 working on another system too (and with that one it wouldn't talk to the ICD4 at all).

So, I nuked MPLAB X and then reinstalled it and now it seems to work fine!
