I don't suppose you have the CVS plug-in installed?  I had to delete it, uninstall MPLABX v5.40, then reinstall it again.  Some sort of incompatibility there (at least for me).

I don't need the world to know my name, but I want to live a life so all my great-grandchildren proudly remember me.

    Which Tool?
    What OS?
Did it work on this version of MPLabX
Does it work on a Previous version of MPLabX?
Does it show up in your list of USB Devices? ( I am assuming USB)

    Hi,
Only connected tools will show up.
Did you click on "Show all" ?
I also had this issue and it took some time until I could finally see y Curiosity HPC with PKOB4
    Regards

No CVS plugin installed.  I am on a Mac (OS 10.14.6) using a Curiosity 2.0 PIC32 MZ EF board.  Everything was working on MPLAB X 5.35, Harmony v3 and repos dated before last week.  I updated MPLAB X to 5.40, XC32 to 2.41 and all the latest repos.
I uninstalled 5.40 and still have the problem with 5.35 with latest repos.  I have searched all over the MPLAB X folders looking for where the Hardware connection tools are defined, but I can't find it (yet).
Yes, I clicked on "Show All", but I don't see the one I used before to connect to the Dev 2.0 board through the PkoB4.
    Sad.

@Risc - what did you do to get the PK0B4 to show up in the connected list?

I saw this same problem with a SAM E70 board (EDBG, not PK0B4).  The debug port was working and then it was gone.  Did not show up in the connected tools show all list.  I was doing testing using the USB library which probably caused an abort and/or hangup on the board.  Power cycling the board seemed to fix the problem.
