ICD4 rev 5 vs rev 4

From my discoveries it seems that rev 5 is not working correct with MPLAB X 5.35. on 5.30 it works fine.

Who knows whats the differences between rev 5 and rev 4? Beside the Plastic case, alu case rev4  is better, cost saving...
It seems both revisions use the same scripts and firmware during debugging process. Somehow rev 5 is not refreshing even PC register going step by step. So whats the differences between them?

Make sure that MPLAB X did a FW update when moving to 5.35 as the FW is not compatible between versions.  Follow the "Emergency Firmware Recovery" process with 5.35 to ensure you have the correct FW downloaded.

I think firmware is ok I always see that 5.35 uses
01.00.11 and 5.30 uses 01.00.00. I will try recovery but i think it is not needed, I  will report if it helps.

---
After Emergency firmware recovery rev 5 works fine under 5.35. I must say I have not had any alarms or errors; like wrong firmware update, between switching from 5.30 to 5.35, what I have done few, several times. Solution works Thank you.

Does the rev 5 and rev 4 have same hardware? Only Different supplier? ( rev was made by APM USA)

---
Addendum
No sorry it does not work again, what I did I tested after firmware recovery 5.35, fine, 5.30 fine, then back to 5.35 and again it does not refresh the registers.

Hello _dex,

Could you let us know what is the exact MCU part number you are using?
(We want to be able to reproduce the issue so we can help you with a solution.)

Thank you.

Best regards,

Ken

Hello Ken and thank you for the interest.
I just wanted to leave this topic to be only related with differences; if any are between rev5 and rev 4.
The problem was described precisely here
https://www.microchip.com/forums/m1139976.aspx

If I answer here then we will have two topics related to one problem.
