MCP4726 VREF range
The MCP4726 datasheet states that "When the gain is 2, the VREF pin voltage should be limited to a maximum of VDD/2." There is similar verbiage elsewhere in the document. This requirement is not, however, part of the "absolute maximum ratings."
My question is: what exactly might happen if I use VREF equal (or close) to VDD and a gain of 2? Is it going to damage the device in any way? Judging by the block diagram, the worst thing that may happen is that the buffer will saturate, and even that won't happen unless the output is more than 50% of full scale. Is there something I am missing?
