Visual Graphics Display Designer

Hello Guys,
Have you noticed that there is VGDD plugin inside your MPLAB X IDE plugin session?  I then follow the link and find something interesting. This is still under development:
https://github.com/VirtualFab/VGDDOpen

It claims to be a GUI development tool for PIC 24 and PIC 32 MCUs.

Could you share your experience with us?  What is its relationship with Harmony 2 and Harmony 3?

GUYS!
I have successfully compiled the main executable with Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 Community Edition!

Then, activate the VGDD-Link plugin from within MPLAB X and fill in the main executable location and MLA's location!!!  DONE!!!

This Visual Graphics Display Designer supports 16 bit Microchip MCUs!!!

There is an older pic 24 with a built-in graphics controller. The V1.XX Harmony graphics library was based on that.

VGDD was programmed by Fabio Violino, an Italian guy, see  https://www.microchip.com/forums/Profile/63361/.
It was sold via microchip direct for year.

Fabio has stopped the development of the plugin, but fortunately he gave it to the public.

I use it on a PIC24FJ256DA210 and it is pretty good. It has it rough edges (mainly with multi-language support, but this is more due to the missing wchar support of the XC16 compiler)

Regards

We all hope Fabio Violino is still healthy in Italy and come back as soon as possible.

I hope too, that he is healthy. But it is unlikely that he will come back. He was very busy in his main job (IT for bank / credit institution, as far as I remember). It was hard to get support for VGDD in the last years. But now VGDD is open source and we all could try to make it better.

Hello,
Wieschebrock,
Could you upload a screen shot of your graphical work done by VGDD?  It may interest more users to improve it.

I plan to use it on a project with PIC24FJ128GA204.
