MPLAB X 5.35 Plugins missing tool noID

Hello
I have made the update from 5.30 to 5.35.
Now, when I strat the software the following message comes:
info: The project uses platform tool noID but that tool is not
installed. From the main menu, select,...

What is that tool "noID"
How can I find the correct name?
Martin

No solution for that or time to debug in detail. But to confirm, after installing 5.35
I also receive this message 2 x on loading a solution with 5 projects:
info: The project uses platform tool noID but that tool is not installed. From the main menu, select Tools then select Plugins. Install the missing plugin.
    Windows 10 x64, PIC24 projects with PIC24FJ256GB406, PIC24FJ512GB606, PIC24FJ1024GB606.

I still have 5.30 installed. Starting it now will display the same message (which it did not before installing 5.35 and loading this project).  As far as I can see, starting 5.35 did not modify my project files:  MyProject.X\nbproject ....

[edit: I don't think I use any Plugin in previous 5.30 and before, which is not installed by default MpLabX installation. So if something is missing, I would suspect its a Microchip problem].

    Hi there,
Yes I can confirm that. The 5.30 that I have on it behaves like the 5.35, it gives the same error message.

I found when copying a previous project from 5.30 ( using ICD 4 ) to 5.35 ( with no debug tool plugged in ) the configuration caused the project to fail building.
Changing the debug tool to no tool solved the problem in my case

Hm,  for me the problem is gone now after some experimenting,- unfortunately I cannot go back to reproduce it easily.
Likely I was wrong in one point, I now think it DID alter my configuration when I started 5.35.
Which would explain, why 5.30 also showed the message afterwards.

Concluding from Jim's test, I agree, it has something to do with the Debug tool (ICD 3 in my case)
From Configurations.xml it seems that it's this <platformTool> entry ...
which has its equivalent in the MpLabX user interface

In 5.30 Project Properties this was called "Supported Debug Header".
(for my current project I cannot modify this any longer, probably because the XML was upgraded)

In 5.35 Project Properties this is now called "Connected Hardware Tool", where I can select my ICD3 or "No tool".

Not sure where to search for that, but I usually use default settings, and I find separate folders for all my MpLabX versions  (including 5.30 and 5.35) here:

    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\mplab_ide\dev ...
    e.g.
    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\mplab_ide\dev\v5.30
    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\mplab_ide\dev\v5.35

    so I assume DIFFERENT directories.

Ah, yes. Ok, it's the same as I found out with File Explorer.
Cache and User Dir have their decidated locations for each MpLabX version.

    All:

My experiments indicate that on 5.35 any PIC16/PIC18 Assembler project that has "No Tool" selected (by hand or default) will produce the "noID" info message on startup.  I can't say for other devices or compilers.

I switched a few projects' Properties back and forth (ICD3/4 <-> NoTool) and anytime that NoTool is selected, the info message is shown on startup.

It would be much more clear is the info message had the text "NoTool".  At least then a decent guess as to the cause could be made.

It's an annoyance, but not as big an issue as other parts of the "upgrade" from 5.30 to 5.35.

I can confirm that, if in 5.35 I switch back to "No tool", it will again bring the misleading message.
PIC24 with ICD3 and XC16, I guess its not related to the compiler.  After switching to ICD3 or Simulator, the message will not appear.

I get 36 copies copies of this message on startup.

I have a PK4 selected, rather than No Tool.

    Is there a solution?

    Has anyone opened a ticket?

I opened a ticket. Unsurprisingly, they didn't really have a clue and I ended up telling Microchip what the solution is (at least for me).

Select the tool as No Tool in project properties and then change it back to the actual tool seems to clear the message.
