PIC32MZ, MPLAB X, PicKit 4: cannot change register values in IO View

Hi,

I am debugging PIC32MZ1025DAG169 using MPLAB X IDE v5.10 and PicKit 4 (see also https://www.microchip.com/forums/m1129661.aspx)

According to the MPLAB X IDE User's guide, paragraph 3.12, "You may also change register values directly by clicking on them".

However, if I click on the "value" or "decimal" fields I can type a different value. But after pressing the Enter key, the register contents have not changed.

Is it at all possible to change I/O register values this way, or is the MPLAB X IDE User's Guide simply wrong?

Thanks,
Simon

    What register?
    Is it read only?
Can you change, say a PIO LAT or PORT register?

    Hi Ruben,

I think, for instance, TRISB should be read/write in any case, but I can't change that either.

    Best regards,
    Simon

Have you paused the PIC, or is it still running?

    Hi,

I just discovered that if I type in another value and press enter, the value is back to what it was before. But if I then run and pause again, the register content has changed to the value I had typed...
