SET direction vs "Set equal to" operator

A total beginner question here. In MPASM language, what is the difference between the two lines:

i = 0
i SET 0

In other words does using the SET directive have any advantage/disadvantage/difference from the = operator?

    Which PIC family are you writing assembly language for?
    In MPASM, those lines won't be generating any code, just manipulating label values.

    To get a useful answer, always state which PIC you are using!
